Portfolio Management Tools
Portfolio Modeling:
Reliable portfolio
management tools are essential to making accurate and timely decisions for your
clients. With IMS, managers can design portfolio
models to keep portfolios within specified guidelines.Whenever these modeling guidelines are
violated within a portfolio, IMS can suggest trades, based on pre-established
rules to bring the portfolio inline with its objectives. This ensures that your clients’ guidelines
are maintained while saving you time.
Other Capabilities Include:
- Perform “what if” analysis through Positions Workshop (see below).
- Use Compliance Manager (see below) to keep portfolios in line with models.
- Manage and report on portfolios through unlimited user define reports.
- Project cash and perform liquidity analysis.
Positions Workshop:
Positions Workshop is another powerful portfolio management tool. Its analytical tools
allow a portfolio manager to review how specific trades will affect a
portfolio’s performance before any trades are executed. Several trade scenarios
can be reviewed simultaneously. Analytics
such as yield, duration, and convexity are displayed in real time to help
select the trade alternative that best meets the desired objectives. These trades can then be executed
without ever leaving Positions Workshop.
Compliance Manager:
Compliance Manager perfectly complements Positions Workshop. This
software module offers robust risk management.
When a portfolio is accessed for trading or analysis, pre-set rules
automatically determine whether or not the actions being considered meet SEC
regulations (Rule 2a-7 for money markets supported), internal policies, and
client guidance. Violations are
displayed before any action is taken.
Compliance Manager is far more than a regulatory tool.
It is designed to provide business managers with the flexibility to
better manage their internal policy and client guidelines as needs
dictate. Compliance Manager can design their own rules and apply them to selected portfolios to
that a “best practices” environment is well maintained.
- As a regulatory tool, pre-set rules are defined and IMS will warn a portfolio manager when an impending trade violates relevant
regulations. As planned trades are altered or changed, the violation window updates in real time.
You can report regulatory violations on history.
- Internal company policies dictate “how we do business”. Warnings are generated and a report is provided when a rule is violated.
- Portfolio models can be designed to operate within a client’s specific guidelines.
Compliance Manager alerts users when a portfolio is no longer within the
pre-established client guidelines (i.e. CMO and ABS must be rated AA or better,
or amortized cost positions with a particular issuer can’t be > 10% of the
overall portfolio). The application will also suggest trades, based on pre-established
guidelines to help you bring the portfolio back into line.
- Compliance rules can be maintained and updated locally. New rules are easy to build.
Changing rules is restricted by user rights.
